Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is a required class so anyone in the MSW program will have to take it. The content was incredibly interesting and the Professor was great.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to identify social welfare issues, create a policy that addresses the issue, advocate and implement the policy.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would say to choose Gramuglia. The syllabus is the best tool to follow as there is not much coursework. Most of the work requires writing papers although all the papers tie together throughout the semester.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course because it introduces social workers to the political environment and how we can better serve our communities and advocate for changes in laws. It is a wonderful opportunity to meeting community members and politicians and have your voice heard on concerns that social workers will continue to advocate for social justice.

    Course highlights:

Following a bill through the legislative process and learning how you as an individual can become more involved in your community to help others.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Stay on top of things. Don't procrastinate. Reach out and ask questions. Put yourself out there and introduce yourself to your state representatives and local community advocates. By doing so you will gain great knowledge of the "real" issues and the challenges faced to pass a bill.
