This class was tough.
While Professor Wagner certainly explains all lofty concepts thoroughly enough to help students understand, it is difficult to sit through two hours of straight lecturing. If the lectures were more organized and perhaps incorporated more interaction with students and/or film clips or visuals, there would be less of a need to repeat concepts and students might remain engaged for the duration of the course.
My favorite part of the course was our discussion of psychoanalysis and feminism as they pertain to film theory.

Advice for students:
Buy the textbook, but don't kill yourself with weekly readings... when it comes time for the take-home exams, you can do the readings for the prompts you choose. That being said, take diligent notes during lecture and pay attention to screenings as much as possible; you need lecture notes, readings, and the screenings to do well on the exam (which is possible, by the way. I got an A+ on the midterm!).
