    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is too hard. Professor harrera makes his exams way too difficult than necessary. You can study each and every word from the book and listen to all his lectures carefully. You still will get surprise questions that you had never seen before.

    Course highlights:

I did get a deep understanding of the course matter. I don't know if it's worth it though.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Take this class in community college

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend taking BISC 220 with Herrera. He is a great lecturer and you can really tell that he is very passionate about his field and is speaking from years of study and research experience.

    Course highlights:

Some of my classmates don't like this but he sometimes goes off on tangents that are not strictly related to the content of the course. But this is how you can tell that he is not only passionate about what he's teaching, but also that he has an informed opinion of the subject that you can't get from a textbook.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

He doesn't use the textbook very much and there isn't a lot of content in his slides. If you want to do well on tests, it would be most conducive to listen to what he's saying -- re-watch lectures if you need to.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Herrera is an amazing professor! He is tough (no doubt about that) but you leave his class feeling fulfilled because you gain a greater understanding of the material if you follow his lead. BISC 220 is supposed to be a weed out course for pre-med majors, so the curve can be pretty unforgiving. However, if you are able to do very well on the lab portion of the class, that helps in cushioning your position on the overall curve.

    Course highlights:

Learning the material and knowing that the style of the questions answered in class and on tests will be much similar to what you would see on the MCAT. Also, the final labs were amazing! We dissected everything from a sheep's heart to kidneys to brain!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

First and foremost, read the Campbell textbook! It helps! Also, access past midterms on Course Hero to get a feel of what the questions on the actual midterms look like. Secondly, stay on top of it. The material moves fast and the lectures are recorded. Even f you miss class for any reason, make sure you watch the lecture as soon as it is uploaded on to Blackboard. Finally, do not ignore labs. Try to get as much points on the labs as you can. It is often worth almost a third of the total available points in the class.
