    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course with professor Bridget Varughese because she is very thorough in her lectures. She is readily available to answer questions before lecture and outside of class. She also makes what we are learning easy to understand and includes analogies. Clicker questions and mastering microbiology also are helpful.

    Course highlights:

I learned an enormous amount during this summer course! But I would say that learning about the different bacteria and the illness that they cause and why would be the highlights of this course. Also learning about how the body fights against these bacteria I found interesting as well. She made this course very interesting and it's easy to understand why microbiology is important to each and every one of us.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

For students that are considering this course I would say take it! It's interesting and lab is also very hands on and sometimes even fun! Learning about the bacteria and being able to do lab experiments with it was my favorite part. At first it was difficult for me because you have a lot more independence than in intro biology, but after a few classes you get used to it. But do not forget to study. Although some of the topics may seem easy the tests can be difficult sometimes. I found it helpful to make diagrams on programs similar to inspiration I also like reading the textbook and highlighting important parts that were discussed in lecture. If it's possible go to the SI sessions, those really help and you can ask as many questions as you'd like if you don't have time to go to office hours.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor is okay, but usually reads off slides and occasionally gets information wrong. Lab is a lot of busy work

    Course highlights:

Learned about bacteria, viruses and other microbial cells. Also lab technique such as staining and microscope use.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to study a lot on your own time and spend a lot of time doing busy work such as filling out the lab notebook with prelabs

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

recommend it because the professor uses a lot of old questions from old exams on new exams, and the final is composed of questions on exams you already took throughout the semester

    Course highlights:

the professor is very understanding and pretty easy; he's open to dropping difficult questions and is very helpful during office hours.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

take it with this professor and not others!
