Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is looking to take higher chemistry courses. It really gives you a great foundation to the basics so you don't have to worry about learning them later. Dr. Matti is tough but she really does care about her students. It is very evident that her priority is to prepare you for your next course. She makes her expectations clearly known so you are never guessing what she wants.

    Course highlights:

You will learn the basic elements (Periodic Table) and their bonds. Basic chemistry equations and how to find the information you need to solve. Lots of memorization including elements, poly atomic ions, Diatomic ions, and equations.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

See your peer mentors for exam questions! I hear SI is also extremely helpful I just did not have the ability to go due to other courses. Do not delay in memorizing information right away, it will help you in the long run.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

My recommendation is a definite, Yes!, Matti is an amazing instructor! She makes it easy for you to understand the most difficult parts of the subject. What ever she says is on the exam WILL be on the exam so make sure you found your comfort spot and paying close attention.

    Course highlights:

This course was pretty difficult but I was able to learn many things. From the reason why many atoms bond the way they do, to calculating the specific percentage of an element within a substance. My favorite part was being able to use my math skills to find answers to difficult questions. Reasoning skills were something I improved a lot in during this course. It was great to be able to solve difficult problems by paying close attention to small details and making reason for what the problem was actually trying to say. In all this course was pretty cool, I learned so much from the instructor and it was so easy to understand because of the way she explained things.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advise to students considering this course is to challenge themselves. This course is not easy but it is a great course to take. If you think you can't do it and that the course might be too difficult, just take the risk. Study hard and pay close attention to everything. Don't let something pass you just because you think it's not important, because everything that you hear will be important. At the end of the day you will be extremely happy that you took the course. You will learn so much in such little time and you will feel greatly accomplished with yourself.
