Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I think Organic Chemistry is the class you take that makes you realize you are interested in chemistry or you aren't. It's demanding but can be a lot of fun.

    Course highlights:

It helped solidify my previous knowledge in Chemistry and presented new possibilities with the introduction to synthesizing molecules.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Instead of trying to memorize everything (like physio or bio), try to understand the trends. That way you can reason with problems similar to math. There are certain rules and trends you can follow that lead to the correct answers, it's just easier when you become familiar with those trends!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course not only because of its gruesome nature, but mainly because understanding Organic Chemistry can prompt one to succeed in their future science courses, especially if your intended career path is medicine.

    Course highlights:

Learned multiple reactions, mechanisms, resonance structures, and general concepts in chemistry. At the end of this course, you could fly through multistep synthesis reactions in the matter of a couple of minutes.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My professor would always say "The key to an A is to study every day." and that was true for this course. You must be constantly understanding and studying materials, otherwise you'll fall back and have loads of reactions to cover in a short amount of time. Prioritize and make flashcards of every reaction mentioned in class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is required for most nutrition majors and any of the medical field majors. I recommend taking it first because it is a hard class but it's very rewarding when you do pass and you wouldn't have to taking this difficult course later.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to connect and name all of the organic compounds.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This class is compared to taken a foreign language so you must put a lot of attention into this subject as you would taking a foreign language.
