    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it is completely different than what most people are used to when they think of Chemistry. Organic Chemistry is mostly memorization which many people are not aware of and I used flash cards a lot of the way to memorize and understand the material. Its like a math course, where the more problems you do the better you become. Dr. Zibuck is also very flexible and easy to work with. She will help if you ask and she's a great instructor.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the organic Carbon element. I learned about all the different reactions that it undergoes but like other things in life it likes to be stable. Only a few different reactions can make it go the least stable (Anti- Markovnikov) way such as BH3, H2O2, OH-. I also learned how to draw a Carbon molecule while only looking down one bond and while looking at it as a chair called chair configuration. However the main lesson was how Carbon reacts in different environments and the rate at which it reacts.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend to use flash cards because that really helped me memorize the reactions. I would also recommend looking at other resources for ectra help if you need to. Google is your friend. I searched different reactions and topics on google just so I could get some outside sources that would help me understand the material. I also relied on Khan Academy a lot for videos on step by step instructions and lessons on how to do problems because I am a visual learner.
