    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The experience I got from this class is irreplaceable. Dr. Maher is an amazing teacher, and she gave us hands-on experience with teaching English that made me more comfortable with public speaking as well as teaching to a classroom.

    Course highlights:

The goal of this course was to teach students how to effectively teach English in any grade, in any classroom. The focus was on teaching students how to write real-life writers, writing on things in class that will help them outside that classroom in everyday life. Other helpful things this class taught was how to address fellow professionals and parents about the things you're going to be teaching in you classroom. These addresses included e-mails, meeting handouts, and letters to principals, etc. This experience made me feel so much more prepared for the day when I'm going to be in those situations as a certified teacher.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to work hard in this class. Dr. Maher is not an easy teacher, but she is an amazing one who recognizes you as a learner as well as a future professional. She holds you to a high standard, but you respect her so much in her approach and her teaching style that you want to meet that standard.
