This course touches base on some important methods in research, used in the psychology field. The teacher gives a slight push to his students to remind them to use critical thinking in all aspects of the class. Kevin Sweers even posts Welcome videos to his students, available on YouTube!
I learned that just because there has been research on medications, for instance, it doesn't mean that they are credible. One has to consider their reliability and the ability to be duplicated in a controlled setting. Double-blind studies are sufficient, however.

Advice for students:
I would read in advance to the course study guide. This way you can ask questions if you are not getting the big picture, ultimately. Look at class objectives and review them in the book. Also, I would recommend to take a lot of notes in Laymen's terms.
