Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course offers a completely new view on the world. While my humanities course allows me to see where western history began and how it lead to this present moment, chemistry emphasizes the principles of matter. To state what I think of chemistry in a simple manner, It explains (at least one viewpoint) the reason and rationality behind the beauty of the universe

    Course highlights:

I've always been in awe of molecule diagrams, and part of it was the fact that I didn't understand them at all besides the particular elements within them. Now I can look at the diagram of a molecule and see it in many different dimensions, and this has only made me a more curious person.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend students to take advantage of YouTube. It is rare that a professor can explain every single concept in a way that is easy to understand to everyone. Sometimes I would understand concepts very easily after a lecture, but sometimes I would struggle. If that was the case, I would watch a few YouTube videos from Khan Academy. Other times when I was struggling, I would watch chemistry videos that were for entertainment purposes rather than education, and this helped by taking off the edge and reminding me of why chemistry intrigues me.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a very helpful course for anything looking to major in chemistry or anyone who wants to learn more about it. The instructor is very helpful in that he goes over the material that is more applicable to real world career paths in great depth. He also has a strong passion for chemistry which helps the students see the fun in learning it.

    Course highlights:

So far, I have learned a lot of the basics of chemistry such as molecules and what substances they make up. I apply this knowledge by finding out the chemical make up of things such as caffeine and glucose that are very commonplace in the college environment.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Apply what you learn in a personal way. By doing this, you gain an intrinsic type of motivation to learn the material and don't just study for grades. In the long run, you will retain knowledge much better if you have a passion for the material your learning. I think anyone can develop a passion for chemistry because humans are made out of chemicals and therefore us as humans should have great respect for chemistry.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it teaches you how to work hard. This class requires a lot of effort. It helps keep you busy and allows for you to learn a lot of really interesting stuff about how the world works. The course was my most difficult but, also my favorite. My instructor, Wade, was a great professor to have and really helped me learn more about chemistry.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were that I got to watch myself over the year apply the chemistry I learned in class, in the lab. The labs were tough most weeks but, they were a lot of fun and, very entertaining.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study and ask a lot of questions. The biggest thing is to not put anything off. You pretty much have to know how to do almost everything the professor says in lecture so pay attention and do not fall behind.
