Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Susan Bodnar-Deren I have to say has been my favorite professor yet. She is very open and opinated. She lays her rules and expectations on the line. I was most impressed that she did not require a textbook, but taught the class mostly on lecture based on her own intelligence. She keeps her classes engaged by using humor and interesting stories from her colleges and experience. Standard Rules to ace her class is be respectful, show up and on time, and study her notes.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Susan Bodnar-Deren taught in a wholesome manner. She split the class into sections, however she bounced back and forth explaning how one connected to another. In this class I learned about different cultures, society, and communities. Dr. Bodnar-Deren begins with theories and builds off of each one and later refers to each. She works in South Africa during the summer. She described their presence to be much different than American. This left a large footprint in my mind. In the course she also tells a story of her colleague who studied gang communities and how it keeps it's order. Dr. Bodnar-Deren went into detail when the final assignment was assigned. She went step by step and explained the different techniques that could be used and how ( For which I was most grateful).

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be at class. She tests on her lectures, not just notes. If there are any issues with the final paper let her know.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Bodnar-Deren was extremely educational and intelligent. The notes for the entire term were posted on the first day of class and were based off the book. During this class I began to apply her lectures and noticed how sociology takes place in everyday life.

    Course highlights:

In sociology I learned the different factors and aspects of society as a whole. Factors such as race, culture, and social economic status play a massive role in who we are as a person and how society views you. I learned how important socialization is for the human mind and cognitive development, but also how it can be harmful as well. My absolute favorite part of this course was learning and having my eyes opened to ideas I had not heard before.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Look at her notes she posts. Take developmental psychology before taking sociology. They typically go hand in hand. Pay attention in lecture because the stories told are tested on.
