An examination of the role of the nervous system in the control of behavior. While the course features a systems approach to the investigation of sensory and perceptual mechanisms, molecular, cellular and cognitive components of the nervous system will also be discussed in the context of course topics. Particular emphasis is given to the nature of learning, memory, and motor processes, motivation, emotion, homeostasis, cognition, and human neuropsychology.
The laboratory will be used for a variety of instructor-demonstrative and student participatory research and laboratory activities. Fulfills Group A requirement.

This is a course in life-span human development; we will examine the psychological theories and empirical research that describe and explain the processes that shape our lives between conception and death. We will cover issues related to physiological/biological, cognitive/linguistic, and social/emotional development.
