    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If this course is not necessary for your major or path, it is not worth the time and stress. There are plenty of more interesting courses to take.

    Course highlights:

In this class, you learn the basics of chemistry primarily to build your knowledge on it in future corses.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

If you have to take this class, attend/watch online lectures, do weekly ALEKS homework on time, and allow yourself multiple days to study for the tests-- cramming will not get you through.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I learned a lot in this course. Normally I would spend 10+ hours per week on homework and review. The lectures can seem sort of long, but Emily Pelton does a really good job of making sure the majority of us understand what she's teaching. The grading is tough. The only important grades are the four midterms and the final.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course of me was looking back at the end of the semester and seeing how many topics I learned since the beginning of the year. The course uses ALEKS, which can be annoying at times. However, it's also a really good way to track your progress.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

DO NOT wait until the day of the tests to really start studying your notes. Keep up with the ALEKS homework, and frequently revisit topics from earlier in the year. It will help you tremendously on the final.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class is definitely difficult for those new to chem but its a challenge worth taking. Just don't wait until friday night to finish your Aleks homework!

    Course highlights:

That moment when a topic suddenly clicks in one's mind is undeniably sweet.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Whatever you do, DO NOT wait until Friday night to do your Aleks homework. This is especially true if you wish to go out on the weekend, because no matter how quick you think you can get the homework done, you won't. It might not even be that the material is tough but you, but the homework can become tedious and time consuming.
