    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Most of the books we read were fantastic (although there were a few duds) and James was a great teacher. The only problem I had was that we didn't do very much explication. As with most intro English classes, we were primarily concerned with talking through plot, characters, setting, and stuff like that.

    Course highlights:

We learned a bit about modern writers of color in the united states! A topic that is grazed over in many high school lit classes.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You don't really need to read stuff that deeply, but at least skim every book. If you talk in discussion you're pretty much set.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The novels that you are required to read in this course are definitely enjoyable! However, the one downside is that there is no rubric for the essays turned in. It can be frustrating when you do not understand how you gained or were deducted points on a paper.

    Course highlights:

Learning about the different cultures in this course was very enjoyable and eye-opening. It is interesting to be revealed to the different issues that each culture has to face.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep on top of the reading and definitely reach out to your teacher assistant for paper feedback before turning it in.
