Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It was a great course that prepared me for future writing and improved my writing skills.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course was to find articles and summarize them and share my point of view. It led up to a big research project at the end of the semester. I learned how to find scholarly articles using the University library website and summarize the articles in a proper way.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

As long as you are trying your hardest and making sure you pay attention to the requirements, you will do well in this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. Cary was an amazing teacher who cared very deeply about what she was talking about. She brought a sort of energy or spice to her lessons every day making me want to wake up for my morning class rather than get an extra hour or two of sleep. The class presented a great amount of self reliance and freedom that other classes just don't. Along with those freedoms came an interesting crossroads. While yes you could not pay attention, attempt to write a good paper, and simply pass, the other option is to listen to what Mrs. Cary had to say, pay attention and engage in class discussion, and get a lot more enjoyment out of the entire experience.

    Course highlights:

The best part of the class was by far the ethnography assignment. She introduced us to the topic and set us free to pursue the group that we wanted to observe. With this I got the opportunity to co-observe with a friend in Shawano, Wisconsin, a destination nearly 5 hours away from home. Once there we were introduced to an incredibly unique culture of car junkies who enjoy speeding around a paved track with cars from all over the world.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Listen to what Mrs. Carey has to say and really care about what you write. It was crazy how fast essays would come together when they're written about something you truly want to write about. While yes the class may require a lot of outside work, it was much less work and more exploring a topic that you were interested in. Above all, give Cary the respect she deserves. She really does care about improving your abilities as a writer as well as finding characteristics about yourself that you may previously may not have known.
