    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course to any incoming CSCI students at the University of Minnesota student. This course is a quality introduction to some of the different data structures a programmers need to know, such as arrays, lists, and stacks. The professor is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable in the subject and as a very engaging lecture delivery style.

    Course highlights:

The course taught how to use and do various things in Java. It taught how to build classes in Java, how to use generic types, how build data structures, and much more. One of the highlights was coding a discrete simulation for a hypothetical shipping companies in which different vehicles and weights were tested to find the optimal shipping model. The simulation simulated the creating, shipping, loading, and profiting of shipments for over a year.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

It is important to attend lectures and to take notes. Go to labs because that is where you will learn how to use what you learned. For the projects, it is important to start as early as possible or you will have trouble finishing and getting anything of value from it.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

His lectures are entertaining and helpful. He makes the concepts very clear, and teaches a language that is very useful.

    Course highlights:

The course teaches basic data structures which you will use consistently if you go into any sort of software design.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to lectures, and not much other work will be necessary to understand the content and learn the data structures. Especially i you have previous java experience.
