Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It is a good introduction for how popular music has evolved into what it is today. Songs from different eras are even played in the class to give you direct context into what different time periods were like.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed the lecturing style of my professor. He made students laugh and kept people engaged. I learned about the amount of cultural value we place on music from different time periods. I learned important information about the influence of war and other traumatic events on the types of music being produced in times such as the Civil War era.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the book! I cannot stress this enough. Take good notes as well! You get as much out of it as you put into it. The tests are multiple choice and harder than you think they would be. Pay attention in the lectures and do not skip class. This rule holds true in any course, but especially for this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Gerard is very passionate about what he does and that is what makes the class so great! Plus, he goes over a lot of the artists that I might have heard their name before but never knew what they were about and why they were famous.

    Course highlights:

Highlights were Gerard reminiscing about his old times as a DJ.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

It fills a lot of goal areas and the tests are a little tougher than you think but there are only three so it isn't that bad.
