Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

You should definitely take Introduction to Creative Writing at MSU of Mankato, especially if you're able to get a class with Jess! She's really a wonderful teacher and as long as you put some work in, you'll do great.

    Course highlights:

My favorite things in this course were the workshops and the text she uses for the class, "Bird by Bird." Even if you're not able to take the class, I recommend buying the book— it's so funny! For workshop, we got into groups and classmates gave comments on each other's works. Overall, it was super fun.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you're going to take this course, I HEAVILY recommend being prepared to write (a lot). It's a course on writing, and most teachers really pull the most out of that. In my opinion, the amount of writing is a plus, but if you're only looking to fulfill a writing requirement, you should be ready to put the work into it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was a lot of fun. It definitely makes you reach into your soul and figure out what types of writing you like and which types you do not particularly care for. The teacher that teaches this is very good at her job and has a very good curriculum laid out for students to follow.

    Course highlights:

I really liked learning about the different types of writing there are out there. I learned about different styles of writing and also how to write using these styles.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do each assignment as you get them. There are a lot to complete. Do not procrastinate or you will fall behind quickly. Start all projects at least 3 weeks before the deadline to ensure a good grade.
