Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because with Dr. Avila, history is easy to understand. He uses a lot of class participation and it helps understand the sections more because you hear it in lecture and through other students.

    Course highlights:

I really struggled with history in high school and when I took this course it was easier to understand. The Essential America helped a lot, it's a very detailed book and I learned everything Dr. Avila would go through on the spot, he's a good professor, very educated.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the chapters the day after class to stay on track because if not, you'll feel stressed the day the quiz comes on the last four chapters.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Although it is a challenging class, you do learn a lot. History is not a strong subject for me, but the way he gives lectures is entertaining.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of this course was when he covered Abraham Lincoln era and the Civil War. I learned that slavery is not really what caused the Civil War just part of it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in class for the clicker questions.

Professor Medrano made learning the information interesting. He is extremely knowledgable about many aspects of history; not just American History.
