Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I took this class through my high school, Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, but basing off the information, it is a very good course. The information is delivered in a very sequential manner, basing one topic after the other. It was well organized and executed

    Course highlights:

The reads and articles were very interesting! There was a lot of reading skills that were challenged in this course that helped me pay more attention to what I was reading. It was also a great refresher on grammar. Finally, this course, for the final project, got me to write an essay. I learned more about the flow of a paper and how to use it properly.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to read the assignments. I didn’t do that sometimes, and it was hard for me to participate in class when I didn’t. Doing your best is always a good way to learn what you can from the class. Actually think about what you’re writing, don’t just do it. Expand what you know and learn more.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Watch your spelling, punctuation, and sentence fragments.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed getting to share my views to everyone. I learned that we can learn from others through their thoughts and written words. When writing we need to word things very carefully because one little word can change the whole meaning.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Think about your subject and the points you want to make before you start writing. Create an outline placing things in the appropriate places. Then break down each point to create your paragraphs. By thinking it through and following the rubric requiremnts you will succeed in this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

In this class, we read about a half dozen short stories. I took it online so there was a weekly discussion post but we didn't start writing papers until at least 3 or 4 weeks into the 10 week course.

    Course highlights:

I feel like I learned a lot from writing the papers. Dr. Kay gave a lot of feedback and if you got a low enough score, he would offer a rewrite. Through this class, I learned how to better evaluate the stories we were reading because most of the papers you to look for and explain a theme in one or two papers.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

The Blair Reader textbook is a necessity. However, I did not find myself using the grammar textbook that is recommended. Dr. Kay highly recommends the use of the Purdue Owl site instead.
