    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend the course due to the enjoyment with microorganisms.

    Course highlights:

I gained the knowledge of preparing slides, and I learned the diseases.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In going into this course, the best advice is study daily.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this class! Dr. Rouse is exceptional in teaching, and helps students whenever they need it. The class load is a lot, however, Dr. Rouse gives notes that go perfectly with the tests and exams. Not only is the class fun, but there are a lot of hands-on activities as well.

    Course highlights:

At first, I was kinda iffy on taking micro because the name didn't sound very exciting, but once I got in the class, I didn't want it to end. You learn things from diseases, such as what's inside your belly button, to different types of fungi.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would definitely review notes and go over things in class at home before tests. Do not wait until the night before because it is a lot of material. I always made note cards. Dr. Rouse also always uses review games and tests online that you can take at any time.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Rouse has a passion for Micro and a passion for teaching. She does any- and everything she can to help her students understand the material.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Rouse has a great method for helping her students remember all the different pathogenic causes of diseases (she's a goofy nerd). The majority of students enrolled in that class are working to fulfill their prerequisites for the nursing program, so she also tries to implement different ways to take notes (concept maps, especially; these are used a lot in the nursing program). She stresses to wash your hands (best way to prevent infection). She tries to prepare her students for the impending doom of nursing school...and if you listen and take heed, you'll be far more prepared for it than if you hadn't listened.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Listen to everything she has to say...EVERYTHING. Missing a class wouldn't be good because she helps so much in understanding the material. Do as much of the extra credit as you possibly can to give yourself some cushion for things that you don't understand. Use flashcards and take advantage of the Quizlet app because there are tons of quizzes made my students on there (including myself) that are separated by chapter.
