Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class provides a great introduction to the rich language of culture. While fast-paced, as long as you do the work and maintain decent time-management, it can prove to be a rewarding experience.

    Course highlights:

This course covers the basic introductory principles of the grammar and culture surrounding Arabic. Topics ranging from the extremely different alphabet, to the customs and holidays of the Middle East, provided for an interesting hour each and every class day.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

As long as you maintain a positive attitude and you are open to the culture, this class should not prove to be a challenge. The language, while it may seem intimidating, is remarkably easy to pick up. Even in one semester, I found myself able to understand more than three years of high school French.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is wonderful program that not only forces you to read, write and speak the Arabic language but to be able to appreciate other cultures and religions as well.

    Course highlights:

To learn about the language and how the culture and religion of the middle east differs from what we live in today. You get a whole new perspective of things, giving you the fortune of being open minded

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

To not give up! It seems very hard at first but practice does make perfect. without going through a few hardships on your way to success, you will never be able to appreciate your outcome. Keep pushing! It will pay off.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Marhabaan! While fast paced and sometimes difficult (as learning any new language can be), Intensive Arabic is an exceptionally interesting course that provides a more than sufficient introduction to the language and culture.

    Course highlights:

In our often xenophobic world, I felt that it would be necessary to learn about those who I may not see eye-to-eye with. This class introduced me to the culture and the language of the middle east, an area in this world that has been plagued with timeless conflict. One of the highlights of this class was talking to the multiple TA's in the Arabic department, who have studied abroad in Morocco and Jordan. Their insights on the culture were incredibly illuminating.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I won't say that practice makes perfect, but practice definitely makes your skills permanent. Practicing the language outside of class time is essential for success in this course.
