    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The nursing profession has always been promoting the value of cultural competence and cultural sensitivity within this field of interest. Nursing has always incorporated the value of respecting the dignity and uniqueness of patients regardless of culture and ethnic background. Nursing education has integrated the concepts of cultural diversity in the nursing curriculum.  Diversity within the context of education pertains to the responsibilities of the nurse to provide culturally congruent care through the process of empathy, care and respect on unique individual needs of patients (Nicholl, H., & Tracey, 2007). Diversity in health care policy development therefore, is closely associated with the availability of solid culturally specific retention efforts within nursing workplace.

    Course highlights:

I have developed my knowledge and skills pertaining to business management as I have learned throughout the course, the importance of understanding reimbursement, what a hospital should do to ensure that reimbursement is adequately and consistently attained. I have also learned the use of various healthcare information systems such as patient care technology and the accountability and liability that comes with the use of these patient care technologies. Medical finances are important to understanding business management and in this course, I have learned about the process of medical finances or billing especially under ACA.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Leadership and management are fundamental in the practice of professional nursing. Leadership and management have been thought of as a transition from primary care provider role of nurses to a more diverse and complex role of nurses as leaders and managers. Not all leaders are managers, but all managers are leaders (Hood, 2014). Leadership and management go hand in hand in providing an avenue of improving patient care and enhancing collaborative efforts of nurses and other healthcare practitioners in the workplace and this is something that I have learned in the course (Kershaw, 1992).

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Jon is an excellent professor, he truly cares about the students success in the program. Friendly and helpful with lecture clarifications as needed. READ YOUR BOOK!

    Course highlights:

I had him for med-surge clinical. He is awful. He makes you feel like your stupid and don't know anything. When he sees you sitting around charting or trying to fill out your care plan he will assume your not doing anything and he will come and question you. He was ask you random questions you know nothing about and he will make you feel stupid.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

He has got to be the WORST professor I have had to date. Not informative whatsoever and puts questions on the exams that contradict everything that he has to say in class. You would probably be better off teaching yourself than going to his lectures. Get recorded lectures from another professor if you want to pass the class with a good grade!
