What is an Inequality?
An inequality is a statement that shows the relationship between two (or more)
expressions with one of the following five signs: < , , > , , .
x < y means " x is less than y "
xy means " x is less than or equal to y "
x > y means "
Section 2.2
1. The sum of two numbers is 50. If one number is x, write an expression representing the other number.
2. A 9-foot rope is cut into two pieces. If one piece is x feet, express the length of the other piece in terms of x.
