    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is the first real look at how intense the biological world is. Luckily, I had a cousin who took this course years back to tell me that this course requires a mastery of studying skills, focus, and hours of study time. He was right. The material is hefty, and in order for you to successfully complete it, you must learn for the long term and not just for the next test.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course vary and are based on each individual student. The highlight is the topic that each student is most comfortable in. This is simply because this course will offer up a most in depth look at this topic, whatever it may be for each student. This can be seen as a lighter topic and is a boost of confidence that will be needed to successfully finish the semester. For me, my highlight was material covering cell anatomy. For me this subject came easily to me in middle school so when I took BI 131, it was easier for me to add on the more detailed information about what I "already knew". I was able to easily learn more detailed functions of each organelle, including the functions the mitochondria has regarding programmed cell death, or apoptosis. Mastering the background information lessened the stress about learning the more detailed anatomy of cells.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you take this course, be prepared for a challenge. If you are planning to be a health professional after this course, this is your first major test; don't fail it or crumble under the pressure.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

You have to eventually take this course if you're dealing with any kind of science, however I suggest you avoid this professor.

    Course highlights:

I learned that not all professors have a heart, and that sometimes it's best to jump off the sinking ship instead of going down with it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't take this man's course. As for studying, after you learn a chapter or more in class, go back to your dorm or the library and study it again. Once you're done studying that, read ahead a chapter.
