    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I wish I knew that I would not be able to wing it in this class. In order to be successful I had to create study groups with classmates and ask the professor for clarification on calculations during office hours, but I learned how navigate through large amounts of information and observe/contemplate experiments like a chemist.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to think and work quickly while simultaneously taking precautions so as not to make careless errors. I learned that I could discipline myself into success by figuring out what I needed to work on.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

ALEKS, the online homework program, is an incredibly useful tool in this class. Take it seriously and use the "review" option whenever possible. Also, utilize every practice problem the professor posts, you will not be sorry.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course not only taught me more information it also reinforced what I already knew. The professor was outstanding and always took time out of his day to help us navigate our first year of college.

    Course highlights:

Near the end of the term we discussed nuclear chemistry which was very interesting to me. This was a topic I knew nothing about and it gave me an idea of what I would like to do in the future. I also loved learning more about acid base reactions which we did more with organic chemistry.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Because it is a 101 course, it is just basic information, however, if you are looking for an easy science class so you can fulfill a requirement, I do not recommend this course. This course reinforced my love for chemistry and I would hate to see it tarnished by someone who hates it.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry in college is much harder than in highschool.

    Course highlights:

The labs were a lot of fun and I learned how to apply classroom material into actual science. I also learned how to consult with a professor when I didn't understand something which helped with my overall communication all skills.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Know that it will take time and effort to understand the material the professor provides you. You may at times have to put this course before social activities which is totally okay. You came to college to learn, not to hang out with friends.
