    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

There are 3 teachers during the course- Art is the only good one.

    Course highlights:

Art Woods' Anartica live chat was the only good thing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

DON'T TAKE IT UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. Study every night. Seriously. 25% don't pass.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Art Woods is a great professor and does a wonderful job at making the material interesting and elaborates in ways that makes it easy to understand. One downfall is that the class is in a large lecture hall so there isn't much professor/student interaction.

    Course highlights:

Through this course I learned the basics needed to continue in understanding for the biological field. I gained strong building blocks for a more in depth education in my major and learned everything from population ecology to why proteins stop working when they're overheated. This class builds a solid foundation for biology education.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you go to class and participate in the polls and take your time to do well on the Mastering Biology assignments. Some of the questions from those end up on the exams so it's helpful to know the answers by doing them correctly in the first place.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Our class was taught by three seperate people thoroughout the semester. This can be difficult as right when you get used to one professors specific style of teaching the next professor steps in. On the other hand, it was good when there was a professor who was extremely difficult and fast in her lectures to get to move on to a professor at a slower pace. The material is fun, but it is difficult.

    Course highlights:

It touches on evolution and then jumps to things at a molecular level. I strongly recommend going to class. It's easy to want to skip because there are so many people in the class (500), but it's very easy to get off track and not being able to understand what's going on.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed you must be serious about this class. This is not a good general ed class because it get very in depth in the cellular and molecular aspects of biology. You definitely need some knowledge of chemistry.
