Not too easy. Not too difficult.
One of the worst things medical professional do is talk about patients when they think no one is listening. I have had many encounters with hospital staff doing just that in my presence. As a patient, it made me wonder if they talked about me the way they talked about other patients to me. Trust in medical care is so hard to come by and so easy to lose.
I learned that there are laws that protect the patient for good reason and those laws must be enforced for everyone's protection. When Arthur Ashes' medical records were stolen and given to the media, it was traumatic not just for him, but his family as well. Those days, HIV was what made many good people pariahs. The damage done to Mr. Ashe and his family was incalculable. I believe it shortened his life due to the pressure put on him and his family when he was outed.
