    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Definitely wouldn't recommend taking OChem if you don't have to, but if you do, McCune is a great teacher. Had him for both semesters of OChem at UNL and learned a lot.

    Course highlights:

Basic organic chemistry concepts: synthesis reactions, substitution reactions, etc., along with some nomenclature and a basic intro to sugars.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the book, do the problem sets, do the homework, go to office hours, ATTEND LECTURE and recitation. Don't give 50% to this class or you won't succeed.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you're looking for a sense of pride after this class, or an easy A... don't take it with McCune. I somehow managed to pull an A out at the end of the semester, but it was not worth all the stress and work I had to go through.

    Course highlights:

I probably learned more than I felt that I did over the semester, but I think the constant challenge could have been a highlight, always knowing I had to work. THE TESTS SUCK

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

be ready to bust your butt, and to work hard because thats the best way to get through

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course is hard, it is organic chemistry. Professor McCune does his best to utilize tools and office hours to make sure you are understanding the material. The material takes some time to grasp if you are not familiar with what you are learning. It takes time out of class to better understand it. Read the book, do practice problems, ask questions.

    Course highlights:

I felt more confident in organic chemistry 2 than in organic chemistry 1. With the foundation that was established in organic chemistry 1, the many synthesis reactions we had to learn came much easier to me this time around. I learned tons of new synthesis reactions and various reagents that can be used for them.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask someone for help. Utilize the tools that are given to you. Don't act like you can learn it all in one night. Study periodically and do practice problems if you are struggling with understanding the concepts.
