    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class will be a challenge for whoever decides to take it on. Professor McCune is phenomenal, and not only will you learn about the amazing tiny things that make up every living organism, you will prove to yourself that you can pass one of the hardest classes available to undergraduates. This will elicit a significant boost in anyone's confidence. The key is mindset. If you consciously understand and decide that you will need to study your butt off when you start this class, you have already set the bar for yourself, and that is the first step to success. I sincerely believe that a vast amount of college students can do well in this class. What is important is they first have to believe they can do it, and then carry through with hard work. So not only is it an interesting class, you also prove to yourself that you can accomplish great things.

    Course highlights:

The mechanisms of some of the key chemical pathways that enable us to live every day fascinated me. To know that the intricacies of the cell all start with these mechanisms just blew my mind. From this class, I began to understand how a molecule functions on a very basic level when put into contact with any other molecule, just based off of its structure. This propelled me into Organic Chemistry 2, which prepared me for Biochemistry, which is when you finally put everything together. This is where you ultimately learn how everything actually works. When we learn biology, we are just told how everything works on a macroscopic scale. However, there is so much happening on the microscopic scale, which is the foundation for everything. This foundation is first placed in Organic Chemistry.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to study very regularly outside of lecture. But don't give up. Keep it up, and you'll get through!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because the professor really pushes you to do and be your best. I learned a lot more from this class than others because of the focus he puts on learning the material and gaining that knowledge for future situations.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot more than just Organic Chemistry, although you will learn a lot of that too. This class is more difficult than many of the other classes one will take and it forces one to really understand themselves and how they are going to exceed throughout the rest of college.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared for a hard class that is worth every hard hour of work that you put into it. This course follows the classic saying that what you put into it is what you get out of it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Take Organic Chemistry to see that you can do it. Not only is it very interesting, it will also show you that you can pass one of the hardest classes available to college undergraduates.

    Course highlights:

The vast amount of knowledge that you will inevitably obtain is very valuable. Chris McCune is also the best teacher I've had as an undergraduate. It is worth it to take the class just to have him as a teacher.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Expect to study a LOT for this class. Don't go in thinking you won't be able to do well in this class. Realize that you can do well, but it will require a large amount of studying.
