    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a very difficult course and Dr. Stains is a quirky guy, but I would definitely recommend taking it with him.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Stains was very helpful with homework questions and his office hours is where I learned the most with him. I learn very well 1 on 1 and he is very helpful during his office hours.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours, and take advantage of the old exams that he posts because they help you prepare for the exams.

    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Extremely hard class but great professor and you will have a great time if you put forth the effort needed; practice problems and do your homework!

    Course highlights:

Learn all you would need in a first semester O-chem class! Helps build a solid foundation needed to continue onto O-chem 2 and Biochemistry etc.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to go to every lecture; if you miss your lecture, try to find another one to go to! Do not forget about the weekly quizzes and homework because it will come back to bite you. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would not recommend the course to take because you can, it is very rigorous, however there is a strong curve. In order to pass the class, you will need to form a study group, put in a lot of extra time to gain a better understanding. If you do not study for the class, you will struggle.

    Course highlights:

There are many new concepts that are expanded on general chemistry, if you struggles to grasp concepts in general chemistry, you will struggle in organic chemistry. Some of the highlights would be red fridays and several different extra credit opportunities, such as visiting office hours and dressing up on Halloween.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Take advantage of office hours, ask questions, and study extra hard if you do not understand some of the concepts. Practice problems help, even finding videos online that explain concepts differently than McCune.
