    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is an intense course and is offered by two instructor both in which I have taken. There are good and bad to them both. I would recommend Erin over Koffman but that is only by preference both have different and effective teaching styles.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot that will be helpful in my actuarial exams as well as internships that are looking to know if you can do statistical methods. They are not looking so much for stats 462 but to the applications in stats 463.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't worry about your homework or exam reviews. The problems on there need outside data and you can't have those on exams. Worry about the examples on the notes or practice problems those will be most beneficial.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor often seems scatterbrained when teaching, so try to create a study group with friends to bounce ideas off of when his teaching becomes unclear. Come to class with questions and ask at the beginning or you will never get them answered. Also, not the best planned in terms of schedule. Went slowly for first 2 months, then seemed to run out of time and was rushed through learning until the end of the year when we had 3 classes with nothing to do and too much confusion to even ask helpful questions for the final.

    Course highlights:

Fun material, especially the first half if you are an actuarial science major.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the homework! Huge portion of grade. Tests are way easier than practice problems. If practice problems are stressing you out and making you more confused, don't do them. I am a strong believer in doing practice problems until you get it, but when they asked questions about distributions we hadn't learned, it caused too much stress and confusion to waste time on it.
