Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Core Technologies is a very helpful course for anyone who is looking to get into Information Technology, but who doesn't know anything about IT. It covers networking, coding, databases, cybersecurity, and web development. It's only a 10 week course, but a very helpful foundation course. Because of Core Technologies, I feel very confident in my own understanding of my field.

    Course highlights:

The most exciting part of the course for me was the week on coding, because of my particular concentration (Software Application Development). Computer programming languages are very confusing to me, but this class really eased me into it. I started to translate what I was learning to things I already learned in my undergrad (Visual Effects and Motion Graphics). Suddenly it was all very much clear, and I started watching tutorials on Java as well as researching what programming language was the most powerful to learn and leads to a good job. This class has given me renewed passion for my field and my own success in life.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Apply yourself, and make sure you do the weekly discussions because they add up in point value. Make sure to work ahead on the weeks you learn JavaScript and HTML so you have time to learn the concepts.
