Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

She has real world experience, writing for Television and is able to help you become a more compete writer. Before her class, I thought I was a good writer. With her guidance in understanding how to make a scene move and become more vibrant, I feel I am becoming a great writer. I appreciated her candor and direct approach to feedback. When I submitted something outside of the submission guidelines, she was quick to correct. I loved this class.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to breathe life into a passage. To not just describe the movement of the characters, but also what they see, feel, hear and smell. In this way it puts the reader into it, touching all of your senses making it come to life. Before her class I was good at writing flat, moving scenes, but they were not lively and vibrant. After the class, the entire world opens up when I write, and it even pulls me deeper into my stories.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the book thoroughly, and always, always follow the submission guidelines. She is very specific that a story or passage needs to be so many words, specific font and spacing. I turned in an early project and it was well outside the length (words). She marked it off and told me that I needed to pay better attention because if I submit to a publisher and they want a specific length, they will discard anything that is not within, and that can lead to a great story being tossed out. So always follow guidelines to the letter. Later in the class, this helped me when I was critiquing my fellow classmates. One of our big projects had to be 1250 words, Times Roman 12 point, double spaced. He turned in close to 4000 words, Arial 15 point, single spacing. I gave him the same advice she game me, and he really appreciated it. She also used all of my feedback in his critique.
