This course explores and explains the role of a systems analyst in the modeling and design of and information system to support business solutions and organizations. It covers the logical design, physical design and total implementation of an information system using the system development life-cycle (SDLC).
There are phases in system analysis and design, The first phase which is the system analysis shows the techniques used to develop a systems requirement document. System requirement document is the series of inputs, outputs, processes, performance and control expected from a newly proposed system, The second is the modelling phase where techniques like the structured oriented, object- oriented, Rapid application development and joint application development are used to model a system. In the system design phase, the physical design is reviewed for workability by considering the system architecture, feasibility study and project plan. and the finally phase is the implementation phase where the system design is implemented, ad tested to workability and standard compliance.

Advice for students:
Diligence and intensive research will be needed in this course. The terms can get very confusing but always know that there is an analysis, modelling, design and implementation phases in this course. Sometime the terms are used in all phase to describe different things and some diagrams/ techniques are used in more than one phase of the course.
