    | Would recommend.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to all nursing student's because it was a wonderful way to expand on our therapeutic communication skills with the mentally ill patients we commonly work with as well.

    Course highlights:

The course builds on how to communicate with our patients and emphasizes how to best use therapeutic communication with more mentally ill clients that we commonly come across in the hospital. It teaches you the different interventions for situations that you will see from a mental etiology and how to properly and professionally take care of this special populations of clients that is safe for you and your patient.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would highly recommend it to student's but advise them to put just as much time into this course as your others even though it may seem more simple than your other courses. Psychiatric nursing is different than our other courses but is one of the most insightful classes I've taken. It is a wonderful opportunity to properly intervene with critical behavioral situations. It is a course that allows you to become more familiar with psychiatric medications that we didn't focus on as much in our pharmacology course.
