Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend Abnormal Psychology with Dr. Rodriguez because applies the material from the text from her own insight and experiences from the clinical field. She has a magical way of being able to convey the thoughts and behaviors to those who have never experienced mood, personality and/or anxiety disorders. Dr. Rodriguez goes far beyond explaining the disorder and the appropriate medication. Rather, she focuses in on the client, the human being, and the alliance that must be formed between them and the therapist.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were being challenged to apply the material to cases, such as when diagnosing and choosing the appropriate medication, rather than utilizing memorization. Being challenged in an undergraduate class was the best preparation for continuing higher education, and for the field itself. Overall, in this course I learned to see the patient as a human being, and not as their disorder. Caring for another human being is something that everyone can relate to, and is worth more than any medication I could prescribe.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Upon entering this course, come to class being mindful of where you are. It is important that you are paying close attention to the disorders and their medication, and noting specific details when reading the chapters. Abnormal Psychology is set to prepare you for graduate school, so be aware that you will be asked to apply and diagnose in class discussion and on exams.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

You get to read case studies about people with diseases and learn in depth about the symptoms and what people actually go through and it also gives you a perspective from friends of people with the disease. Interesting class

    Course highlights:

I learned about multiple different disorders such as bipolar disorder, mood disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and many more plus discussions in class about OCD, suicide and depression, and bulimia/anorexia.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Listen to her feedback on papers she needs you to be thorough only because she wants to know that you're learning something and not just finding the answers by skimming over the text
