The course requires a lot of readings which take up a lot of time outside of class. Attending the lectures is not enough since the material is not covered as thoroughly as it is in the readings. The lectures only complement the readings and provide an overview.
The course gives a very complete overview of the history of the most influential nations in the Asian continent while always ensuring the students understand the relevance that these events hold in today's world. There is a lot of emphasis on the analysis of the political situations that led to the conflicts or reforms studied.

Advice for students:
You need to spend a lot of time going through the readings assigned. Taking notes of everything said during the lecture is very helpful. Also, researching the events covered through outside sources other than the assigned books gives a broader understanding which is very helpful for the tests.
