Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

News Writing is the perfect course for those who want to expand their knowledge in the world of journalism. The recommended textbook is a bit outdated but it teaches the basics that are still used in journalism today. Highly recommend this course to students who are seeking a career track in journalism.

    Course highlights:

For me the best part of the course were the assignments. It gave me the opportunity to come brainstorm possible article ideas and report on events going on in my town. I also faced my fear of interviewing my supervisor for a written assignment. The experience I gained from the homework assignments taught me how much time and effort goes into being a journalist.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely do not skip studying for the midterm or final exams. Both are open ended with no multiple choice questions and two big essays at the end. The exams will ask you to explain specific terms and techniques. Reading is a big thing in this course, the weekly assignments have required reading of 5 textbook chapters or more.
