Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Shalan is such a creative English teacher. He gives great feedback on your writing and the books are more than great. The selection on books makes the class so much more than English class. It is like philosophy, sociology, psychology, history and English in one class. Absolutely recommendable.

    Course highlights:

I read a book called "Maus" by far the best book I read in the class. It relates to the Holocaust. The book made me feel and envision the traumatic experience of the Jews. How the Germans were cruel and the Polish and the Americans were witnesses of the unfair treatment the Jews faced based on religion. Made me proud how America stepped in and put a stop once and for all.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You have to read the books in order to pass the class. The books are very interesting, you will definitely learn from this class.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I truly recommend this class. As a student with Spanish being my second language would of thought this class was going to be hard on me but when I saw how helpful the professor was it was in the end a piece of cake.

    Course highlights:

The course frequently puts us students at the center of our own discourse, challenging us to discover and express our own ideas and to make those ideas convincing or compelling to others.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I give other students is to have fun with this course, you will discover different writing techniques you didn't know you had in you, also to believe in yourself.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I definitely would recommend this course. Professor Thomas did an excellent job of showing the class how to properly set up an MLA formatted essay as well as figure out how to pick apart short stories to find useful information. I have learned so much more coming out of this class than when entering.

    Course highlights:

Though Professor Thomas requires group work and several essays throughout the course, she really helps you to understand the material. She will break down each essay before assigning it to help the students have a better grasp on what should be included in the paper. She also assigns several reading from the textbook as well as a novel each semester. This helps the students learn how to pick apart a short story or novel and figure out what information is needed for the paper and what is not.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice is to keep up on the readings she assigns. Though they seem tedious and not worth reading, every little assignment she has in class based on a reading is counted as extra credit which helps boost the grade. Some of the readings will also have essays written off them so it will benefit you to keep up.
