    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because first off, the professor is a great one that teaches in a fun way! He is very caring and loves to help his students. This is a fun course to take for general psych.

    Course highlights:

in the course, we learned about the brain and the different types of neurotransmitters and what they do and why. such as dopamine, we learned that it is involved in pleasure and motor functions. i found it interesting that things such as food that we like, especially desserts makes the dopamine in our brain shoot up and makes us "feel good". we learned about all the different nervous systems, from PNS to AMS.We then learned about each individual part of the brain and each function.then we moved onto mental illness which was my favorite part of this course. we learned how people with certain mental illness are the way they are due to either past traumas or just the way they are. sensation and perception was very interesting as well. talking about the visual spectrum and how there is NO color in the real world.we later moved onto sleep and dreams which was very fascinating. we learned about the stages of sleep and our biological clock. we then jumped to personality and how it derived from the greek word "persona" meaning mask. we talked about the difference between personality types and personality traits. I remember learning about the Big 5 Traits including: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. with personality types, you are either type a or b, no in between. type a is a person who is hard-driving people who are always stressed out and busy while type b people are laid back, and easy going such as my professor Holle. with personality traits, you can either be more or less of something. we of course learned about all the psychologists from skinner to watson. this is an amazing class i definitely recommend it because it was an awesome class and very fun and you learn a lot about people and life!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

make sure you take notes and pay attention. Holle gives a lot of extra credit opportunities so please take advantage of those! Make sure you complete your hours for SONA research in time as well. just go to class its fun and not hard at all.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course. Being an intro level course, Professor Holle does a fantastic job of introducing the students to the world of psychology. He is very energetic and passionate about what he teaches and does not overwhelm the students with work during this intro course. He gives students the information needed to proceed in a kind and entertaining way.

    Course highlights:

One highlight is the professor's teaching style. He walks around and engages students individually during class, raising attention and retention. The material is also present in fun and borderline goofy ways so that remembering them letter one is easier. I learned a lot about parts of the brain and how they function, past and current psychological theories, and how psychology applies to everyday life. Finally, I learned about my passion for psychology.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to attend all classes and pay attention. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, and will sometimes give direct answers to future tests through repetition‚Äč of a certain topic.
