Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was an incredible introduction to the art department at the University of New Mexico. Professor Bouton is both very good at leading engaging class discussions and at pushing her students to explore and develop their ideas. I learned a great deal in this course.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were two specific projects that I worked on. The class is very open and creative, so despite the fact that there were material and time requirements, I broke those rules to do two performance pieces. In doing so, I explored my new favorite artistic medium and pushed the creative bounds of the course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The only advice I would give future students is to not be afraid

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class was a great deal of very extensive work, and required a huge amount of time and thought inside and outside of class, however it was crucial to improving my thought process and artistic and problem solving skills this semester. The teacher cared very deeply about improving the skills of the students in her class and was very willing to work with the students who communicated with her about personal emergencies.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was the act of even being in it. All the projects required a lot of forethought and planning both technically and artistically. I learned the importance of research and planning when making my art, and was able to vastly improve my artistic skills with everything we did in the course.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Go to every class, do not wait until the last minute to do assignments, make sure what you are doing in the class is something you will be happy carrying out, or it won't end up making you content with what you did, document everything you do in the class, and don't forget the importance of the sketchbook
