    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic Chemistry 302 taken with Dr. Lisa J. Whalen was an extremely informative class in which greater knowledge and detail upon biochemical processes and mechanisms were explored. Structures of organic molecules their chemical reactions were studied in detail to better understand the relationships between different molecules. From simple hydrolysis reactions to more complex Kiliani Fischer Synthesis reactions, the material was very well presented and understandable.

    Course highlights:

Organic chemistry involves the study of the structure, properties, chemical reactions, and interactions of organic compounds which contain carbon atoms as their backbone. The goal in which is to better understand life's many biological and chemical processes in greater clarity. Catalysts and enzymes are also explored in the roles of reactions and different structural components of molecules also explored such as alcohols, amines, amides, carboxylic acids, phenols, aldehydes, benzene, esthers, ethers, etc.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Good advice for organic chemistry would be to read the book, study it well and thoroughly, do the homework and study questions. Go to class and try to never miss any class dates. Ask questions regularly and for help if it is necessary. Try to devote as much time per day to the class as possible. Also reading the book chapters before class is given first also would help greatly.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The instructor really knows his stuff but he's not very good at teaching it. The course is hard and he lectures on and on with material that's hard to understand and follow through with. He takes the questions for his exams right out of the book. You basically teach yourself in this course.

    Course highlights:

This class didn't go too well honestly.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you're gonna take this class, get ready to teach yourself.
