Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I personally take this class to fulfill a requirement for my major, although it is a lot of work it is doable. If you put in the work you can do well, just focus on studying, go to class and pay attention to the labs they will help you a lot.

    Course highlights:

I learned general chemistry all in 1 semester considering this is 2 gen ed chem classes combined.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study Study Study, thats all you can do.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry 111 is a combination of two courses, chem 107 and 108. It is the equivalent of chemistry 1 and 2 but instead of taking chemistry over 2 semesters and having time to learn and digest the material, you are forced to cram material and learn everything in one semester. At the end of the semester you have to take a standardized test that is given to chem 108 students for their final. Those students learned the same material in twice the amount of time but you are expected to score the same as or higher than them on the final exam.

    Course highlights:

Nothing! Not chemistry. If anything, I learned how to effectively cram information before a test or quizz.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Unless you are required to take the class, don't do it. But if you have to take it, read the textbook and go to office hours. Lectures are useless but you have to go for iclicker points. Take the labs seriously, they will save your grade.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Even with minimal background in chemistry, I found that I really liked Chem 111 and it kind of ignited an interest in chemistry that's continued to the present. However, some people really hated it...there was a lot of work, but if you could grasp the concepts it's manageable.

    Course highlights:

Elementary chemical principles and lab techniques. I also learned how important it was to focus and set time aside for a work-heavy class because it's impossible to do well without doing the work.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the textbook and paraphrase the information to the best of your understanding because it really helps you grasp the concepts and apply the math.
