It was a good course that covered Gothic literature and the elements that ties Gothic pieces together. You do have to keep up on your work-- there are only two papers. They come up quick in the syllabus, so plan for the outset what your essays could be about.
I got a better understanding of Gothic literature in an contemporary context. While it was not a class focused on Colonial studies or women's studies there were thematic elements in the pieces that were more interesting when viewed through these lenses.

Be prepared to read. It has a very quick reading schedule that is realistic. However, you have to plan your reading time to ensure you meet deadlines.
