    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Zimmerman helped me improve my writing abilities in ways that I had not even considered. I considered myself a fairly eloquent writer when I first started at Fordham, but Professor Zimmerman challenged my ideas, and pushed me to take my writing to the next level. The class, which was an honors seminar, was made up of 9 students which allowed for in-depth analysis of the texts we studied and a more personal relationship with our professor. Discussion was mostly student led and lesson plans were often student created with guidance and moderating from our professor.

    Course highlights:

I was able to analyze texts on the relationship of man and nature. I learned how to write more coherent and effective essays, along with how to do a more thorough deep revision of papers.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to be willing to work hard, to take corrections, and to do all the reading. You can't do the bare minimum in this class and expect to get As or Bs. If you are looking to truly get anything out of this course you need to put the work in first.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class is interesting, engaging, and forces you to look critically at your own work, enabling you to become a more eloquent and precise writer.

    Course highlights:

I especially loved the nature aspect that my particular course had. I learned to look at nature in a new and interesting way, and learned how literature shapes our conceptions of abstract ideas. I also enjoyed the small seminar style of the class as it allowed my to develop my own ideas more fully.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't slack on the reading! Besides that, give yourself time to prepare for the papers so they are well-organized.
