    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was far too accelerated. It was two semesters of general chemistry crammed into one. Plus there was no slack cut and instead tests were designed to trick students.

    Course highlights:

Definitely gained an understanding of how intense some college courses can be. Content wise, the course covered everything from stoichiometry to titration and acid base reactions. First few months covered high school concepts but it quickly accelerated to upper level concepts.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you have a solid understanding of chemistry going in. During the semester make sure you develop good study habits weekly.

    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it really helped me understand what exactly Chemical Engineers do with their careers. This course was incredibly challenging, which prepares you for the long road ahead. Professor Gin was very good about showing how to do calculations and going over specific examples. Asking questions in lecture was always encouraged and the demos he performed were helpful in visualizing what was being taught in class.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course for me personally were the in-class demos. They were incredibly interesting to watch and it was great seeing what we were learning in lecture actually happening in front of our eyes. Professor Gin did a great job explaining what was going on in the demo and why everything happened the way it did.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

My advice for students considering this course would be to expect to struggle. If you do not have AP Chemistry knowledge going into the class, the last three quarters of the semester will be pretty hard. The first quarter of the semester covered what you should have learned in high school chemistry but the last part covers new material such as thermodynamics and electrochemistry.
