    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because it's mandatory for most students. Arora is not the greatest lecturer but Nick Angelo is the best TA. I took majors, so TAs are really important in helping you understand the class problems.

    Course highlights:

So far, we've covered molecular orbitals, stereoisomers, and chirality. This is basically everything that's going to be covered on exam one.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you read the book! Read the book before you go to class and read it again after. It's useful to utilize outside resources such as Khan Academy. I pre-studied in the summer using khan academy and watch videos to get the basics before every chapter. The lecturer goes super fast so if you're not a great chemistry person like me it's important to stay on top of everything.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic Chemistry is a phenomenal course that really digs deep into the reasons why certain reactions occur the way they do both in a laboratory and in nature. This course not only teaches you the organic chem that is used in labs but also every lesson demonstrated how important organic chem is to our lives everyday. I feel that with many science courses people have difficulty connecting it to our lives, but this course does exactly this.

    Course highlights:

I was always fascinated as to why reactions occur the way they do. In gen chem we only learned about atoms and usually just about reactants and products, but in orgo you see the reasons why a reaction takes place the way it does and at certain conditions why it prefers to do one reaction over the other. Multiple factors determine why reactions occur a certain way.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to stay on top of your game. If you fall behind you will have difficulty catching up. Meet with professor, watch videos, and keep practicing.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Go to lecture and make sure you read the book. Take the time each week to learn the topics so when the exams come you are just reviewing and not learning anything new.

    Course highlights:

Lab is fun because you are learning skills that will be useful in research etc.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY AND TAKE THE TIME TO REVIEW
