This class was tough.
I would recommend this course because the professor truly cares about her students' performance and understanding of the material. She readings selected are extremely relevant to the topics at hand.
The guest lectures were the highlight of this course. Our professor organized two, one was regarding humanitarian photography and another was by a United Nations speaker. Both provided such different perspectives on first-hand encounters with humanitarian work. I was extremely interested in the fact that photography is manipulated by the photographer rather than the subject. Therefore, a photo can tell a different story than what is actually occurring.

Advice for students:
In order to excel in this course one must do all the readings! The readings are the fountains of information for future response papers and essays, and contribute to participation in class.
