Course Overview:
The professor was amazing, both funny and helpful. He understands what it is like to be a college student and is easy on the work load and always willing to help! He gives four exams in the semester and quizzes every two weeks. His tests are hard but he curves tests, not quizzes. He also has self checks which is sending him an email or giving him a piece of paper that answers his questions on how you are doing/ studying for this course. Theses are basically free, easy points if you do them and it reinforces communication with your professor! He also has problem sets every few weeks which are online with plenty of time to do them, anyone can help you including the professor and they can be easy points too if you are willing to put the work in to do them.
Course highlights:
I learned the basics of Calculus 1: functions, limits, derivatives, chain rule, concavity, mean value theorem, related rates, extrema on an interval, optimization, integrals, fundamental theorem of calculus, areas between curves, and arc lengths. He teaches the importance of office hours along with being accountable for due dates which is very helpful as a freshman.
Hours per week:
6-8 hours
Advice for students:
If calculus 1 is a requirement for your degree and you are not strong in math, this professor is the way to go! He is funny and entertaining while teaching math which makes learning much more tolerable! The work load is minimal, I will miss having him as a teacher. As long as you are willing to do the work, it can be almost guaranteed you will pass.
