    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Obviously the course is very difficult, however, Frantz provides his students with a very strong foundation in learning Organic Chemistry. The time investment involved in studying for his class will prove to be worth while when you must take Organic Chemistry 2, which will be much easier in comparison.

    Course highlights:

Frantz is very organized in his lectures and presents the material in a succinct fashion. His tests, while challenging, cause you to think critically and outside of the box.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Realize that most problems are like a puzzle. Throughout the course you are given sets of rules on how atoms/molecules will act and are expected to use those rules to solve his puzzle-like problems. The key here is to understand these rules rather than memorize facts.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course only after some out of classroom, self-education on this topic has taken place. Good material to learn and be aware of, but very tough at the same time. Professors do not re-visit topics. They teach to the top 5% that are understanding it the best. To get the most out of this class be knowledgeable on the base material covered in organic chemistry. Be a pro at general chemistry first.

    Course highlights:

From taking this course, I learned many specific reactions and in what solutions are ideal. Became well aware of orbitals and electron transferring through organic compounds (carbon compounds).

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Learn the basics before stepping foot in the classroom. Be a pro at general chemistry and understand the foundations of whatever topic of organic chemistry will be covered in class that day. Review after classes and go to office hours if you aren't grasping the concept. Whatever you do, do not fall behind because each topic builds on the next.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would not recommend this because the teacher is not a good teacher he is unnecessarily hard and has no want to help kids.

    Course highlights:

While the teacher was not very good, if you took it upon yourself you could learn slot from this class. Learned reactions and the many different types of bonds

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not choose this professor and be prepared to work very hard regardless of the teacher
